Please Help Me Name this Shawlette
The pattern writing for the new shawlette design is well on it's way, but an interesting name for it is eluding me. So who wants to help me name it and win a shawlette pattern in the process?
Name that tune
I'll pick the top 3 name choices and throw in a 4th winner at random. Just leave a comment below and please make sure you leave a way for me to contact you. I'll leave the naming open until Monday 7/13 8pm EST. Thanks everyone!

Resillace (why?:resille is french word for fishnet and that's what it makes me think of ;) Im sure my men would laugh at this name too... Good luck to finding THE name for your shawlette, cant wait the release already have yarn to make it in my stash ;)
ooh! bliss is what first comes to mind!
Canteiro de Flores ... is Portuguese for Flowerbed. It reminds me of a bed of flowers for some reason. :)
The lace pattern reminds me of arrowheads. I suggest "Lake Arrowhead"
The lace motif near the edge reminds me of feathers, particularly a swallow's tail. But, since there's already a pattern named swallowtail, that won't work at all. How about naming the shawl Capistrano, for their famous flock?
I suggest sprezzatura. Here's what wikipedia has to say about the term:
"Sprezzatura, is a term that originates from Castiglione’s The Book of the Courtier. It is defined as “a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it."
-Sara (not Organizational Performance as my google account suggests!)
Since the shawlette is so lacy and lovely and rather see-through, I'd call it "Diaphanous" or "Translucent."
It's really beautiful. Congratulations!
How about Lancet? The lace pattern reminds me of the following description...
A lancet window is a tall narrow window with a pointed arch at its top.
Beautiful pattern!
Perhaps it's because I've been reading a history of Anglo-Saxon Middle-Earth but it reminds me of tall sheaves of wheat, the leaves of a beech tree, and the wings of a swallow.
So because I see all these Earthy things in your shawl I suggest the name "Nerthus". Nerthus was the Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, and Norse name for Mother Earth.
:)
It's beautiful anyway. Whatever you name it!
Artemis. Known as Diana by the Romans, Apollo's twin and a huntress goddess of the moon. The shawl has an arrow feel to it and its smaller size wouldn't get in her way.
I actually got to this name because I wanted to suggest Lancelot to go along with your Guenevere pattern but it just didn't seem right for a shawl so I started thinking about female warrior types and voila.
Apnee
Maybe I've been influenced by the colour and thought of 'Sea Breeze' or if you'd like the Portuguese version of it 'Brisa do mar'. Beautiful lace work!
Océane. This is a French name (Ocean). The blue makes me think of the water. I would definitely wear it after a day at the beach!
Scialle del mare, Italian for shawl of the sea.
I agree with Maryse that the color makes me think "ocean" or "sea".
Sand Dollar. It's something about the look of the ribs of eyelet.
Seabreeze that is what came to my mind as soon as I saw it.
Love the colour. you can reach me at jlpudsey@cogeco.ca.
Would love to win....
mayfair.
I'm dreadful at coming up with names, but I just wanted to let you know that I posted about your contest on WiKnit, my knitting contest blog.
Beautiful shawl!
Hi there...sorry I missed you at knitting this week. I think Neuroptera is a pretty name.
Why, Bluebird of course :)
Or what about "Birds of a Feather"?
Rosalie
I'm all for Feather or Bloom as i can see both in the design.
Summer Skies or Aqua Cirrus or something like that. It reminds me of something you would wear to a late afternoon summer picnic where you would sit back on the grass and watch the puffy clouds float by in a very blue sky :)
Ocean's Edge - like the waves lapping at the shore
or Lake's Edge if that fist your vision better!
very pretty!
Fairy wings.
fan and feather
Malta - because it looks like Maltese bobbin lace.
Tanja Cilia
Fortune, because the pattern along the outside looks a bit like fortune cookies to me.
The open lace in the body of it looks a bit like netting to me, so I'm going nautical, with "Sheringham"--it's a seaside town in Norfolk.
Taliesin, it reminds me of a stained glass window
Wave, because it reminds me the ocean.
How about Demeter or Ceres? Those were the Greek and Roman names for the Goddess of Agriculture. I think the triangular section looks a lot like furrows. Or how about Aegean after the ocean? To me it looks like something to wear to the beach.
"Bluebird's Flight" because blubirds are the birds of happiness and it is blue, and it looks like such a lighthearted happy piece of clothing !- my contact info- leslee18@optonline.net
I like the name "Whisper".
Chrissy at knittoday(at)hotmail(dot)com
Monarch after the butterfly. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this lovely shawlette.
How about Morpho, after the Blue Morpho Butterfly- as seen in this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313300/plotsummary
It's gorgeous, by the way!
PS. I checked, and the name's not taken on Ravelry...
