It should just not be 70 degrees in NYC on January 7th! This is just not normal!
Of course, we should certainly be most concerned about why this is happining and bug our legislators to pass some laws here - but seriously - we spend so much on yarn, and we can't even wear our sweaters people!!!! For that matter, we really can't wear our scarves, hats or cute mittens either.
I say we start a little campaign - knitters can be strong in numbers and voice! Let's prove it guys! Look, I've even made a button!
Here's what you do:
Write a letter, sign a petition, volunteer, contact your senator and congress people, donate money to environmental groups - do whatever you can - little or big. Let them know we need a tougher commitment to fixing this problem before it's too late!
Remember the planet and your knitted goods are in jeopardy here! Speak out!

I'm so with you on this! I'm all about the warm weather, but our planet is obviously in a state of havoc when it's 70 in January! Did you happen to see Al Gore's documentary? Check it out, if you haven't already.
Yeah, it's absolutely crazy. This is January. As a transplanted Californian, I am enjoying the temperate winter, but as a scientist, it's very very unnerving! - Especially since I've endured some really harsh winters during my 6 years in Ithaca.
I TOTALLY agree! I putting your button on my site. I am totally creeped out by how warm it is over there! I have a blogging friend in Maryland who has daffodils growing in her yard! It's insane!!!
I watched that documentary yesterday - during the 70 degree weather. I moved from growing up believing absolutely in global warming, to changing my mind somewhere along the line (for the last couple of years), but again, I remember my childhood lessons, and now believe. Call me fickle!
I'm with you on this.
i'm totally with you! and i LOVE warm weather, but this is just freaky. i should also suggest that we do what we can to contribute to presidential nominees who are willing to make global warming part of their platform. it's important that our next president really listen and do something about this!
and if you haven't seen "an inconvenient truth" yet. you should. amazing stuff. i heart al gore!
by the way, i think that i might whip up a button too. will let you know.
I'm totally disturbed by this too. Count me in!
Hell yes, girl. Great Idea. 70 degrees in Ny in Jan is INSANE.
Thank you for the button. I'm totally freaked out about this weather too. Who knows what hurricane season will be like this year?
Yes, I agree! I have so many cute hats which I can't wear (or I'd boil under them), and sweaters too. What a shame.
I'm with you!! Even though I'm in freezing Seattle and *can* wear my snuggy items, this is unusual for us. Overall it's been an extremely strange weather year for us with 90s in the summer and now our second snow.
In any case, I love your button and idea. If you haven't seen Al Gore's movie, see it. If you aren't already contacting your legislators about these issues, start calling and writing them today. Our voices can make a difference.
Huzzah!
See Metafilter for places to download An Inconvenient Truth (Al Gore's documentary) or get it for free. http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/57630
AND, Australia is having their 2nd major drought in 5 years. this has made merino wool less available to the world market and it's driven up the price. i depend on merino wool to pay my bills. global warming is really screwing things up!!
It's scary crazy that's for sure! I'm with you and your campaign - I'll be snatching the button!
Great idea! I have been dealing with 6+ inches of snow- in the desert. It isn't warming excactly but it is due to the ongoing, super scary global climate change.
I just lifted the button on

Right on!
I completely agree with you on the Global Warming.
And I shall certainly use your button.
I feel though that we should all try and do more as individuals and that we can't rely on governments to do enough in time - in fact I blogged my ideas here-http://kathrynsknitting.blogspot.com/2007/01/womens-power-challenge-for-2007.html
(I hope it's ok to put this link - sorry if its not the done thing to do)
I've added your button to my sidebar (from my own server ;) and linked back to this post. Hopefully we'll get more folk interested in the cause!
