Monday Yarn Goodness

I know I've said it before, but there is nothing like Monday yarn goodness - especially on such a rainy, nasty, cold NYC day.

This was an especially special "care package" from the lovely girls at One Planet. I don't even know what to work on first!

First up, some goodies from Lanas Puras:

amerbeauty
Fingering weight Melosa in American Beauty for a secret project for OP

clarissa
Clarissa in Granite for my very own Daytrip Cardigan

blackpearl
Then we have some Black Pearl Cashmere for another secret OP project (mmm, cashmere)

flaxen
Digging deeper we have some Flaxen in Sangria by Handmaiden for a new neoknits pattern

swisscashmere
And saving the best for last, some Swiss Mountain Cashmere! Sorry Seasilk - I know you were my new favorite, but you're going to have to move it on over for some silky cashmere goodness. It really doesn't get any better than this. Seriously. Don't believe me, read Clara Parks review here. If you're on a yarn diet, you might not want to read the review unless you are no where near a yarn store, Nova Scotia, or a computer connected to the internet. You have been warned!

Fashion Friday

Color: Spring 2008

spring 08 colors

It's funny when you work in the fashion industry, you're always onto the next thing before it's even hit the stores. I was looking forward to talking about color this week, but when I was checking out some of the store windows in New York and saw most of them showed white and neutral colors, I was a little disappointed and confused. Then I think back to last year and what colors I had on my color palette for Spring 08 - oh yeah, neutrals and duller cosmetic colors.

Last year, I was into the whole cosmetic palette while I was putting it together. It looked so fresh, so new. But now with things getting dicey financially around the country, sometimes a bit of bright, clean color is what you need as a pick me up. Luckily not every store follows the same color trend, so there will be some stores that offer a happier palette.

Thankfully, for Fall 08, the stores should be full of color - deep purples, teal, rust, and fresh berry. And next Spring should be no disappointment either. Glad to see a little bit of color since I feel like we've been without it for so long.

And just an interesting follow up with a link relating to last week's Fashion Friday entry: Is This the World's Cheapest Dress? - Perfect example how cheap clothing and ethical working conditions can co-exist.
